On June 14th, 2005, the Cocoon Shelter opened its doors in Wood County. What began as a vision rooted in advocacy, compassion, and a mission to support survivors of intimate partner violence, has transformed into "The Cocoon" serving as Wood County's only comprehensive domestic and sexual violence advocacy agency and emergency shelter. We have grown into a vital resource, beacon of hope, and trusted community partner across the region.
Join staff, community members, and dignitaries on Thursday, November 6th at 5:30 pm at Nazareth Hall in Grand Rapids as we reflect on The Cocoon’s impact, celebrate victories, and honor the local leaders who have championed the movement to end violence. The evening will feature a visual walk through of the last 20 years, a short cocktail hour followed by a sit-down dinner with themed mocktails and cocktails available for purchase.
